Dr. Edward W. Pearson received his undergraduate training in Microbiology and Chemistry from the University of Florida, and his medical degree with an Academic Excellence Award from the University of South Florida, College of Medicine. He completed his internship from UC Davis in Sacramento in 2000. He became licensed and immediately began practicing as a primary care physician.

Displeased with what he saw in conventional medicine, after completing his internship and a short time in a Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation residency, Dr. Pearson set out on his own to find the education that would teach him how to truly heal people and prevent the epidemics of chronic illness plaguing humanity. He is now becoming a worldwide expert in the field of truly  integrated health care, was certified by the American Board of Holistic Medicine in 2005 / 2011, and receives ongoing training from the best educators in the world, to include the Institute of Functional Medicine and others.

cholecalciferol-vitamin-d-tablet-words-pills-lemon-ginger-55857158VITAMIN D – 5,000 IU’S DAILY

Vitamin D is a strong immune modulator, we always think of it for autoimmune diseases or for SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder, a type of depression). But vitamin D can improve intestinal permeability which reduces pro-inflammatory cytokines. D can increase your Natural Killer cells as well as certain infection-fighting T cells. Since we’re all hiding in the shade, it’s easy to realize why America’s so D-deficient. Proper D levels reduces susceptibility to all sorts of infections. And also, D controls the expression of more than 900 genes involved hundreds of bodily functions. 900 genes! Do you realize when you talk about methylation, you are talking about just ONE gene?Vitamin D regulates 900 different genes, including methylation. Important genes in the vitamin D signaling system, such as those coding for your receptors (termed VDR for vitamin D receptor) and your enzymes 25-hydroxylase (CYP2R1), 1α-hydroxylase (CYP27B1), and 24-hydroxylase (CYP24A1) can be silenced by DNA methylation. Don’t worry too much about all those genes, the point is D is important for methylation as well as supporting health, and auto-immune reactions. There are many high-quality brands of vitamin D at any health food store. If you’d like to explore my line, I’ve created a D supplement that is suspended in non-GMO EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) and the softgels are conveniently tiny for having 5,000 IU.

What is DHEA …. Now you know!

Posted in Hormones on 03.09.11

DHEA is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands.  Your body uses DHEA for the production of testosterone and estrogen.  DHEA can help prevent osteoporosis, improve adrenal failure issues, improve sexual function in men and women and can alleviate depression.  Although it is sold over the counter as a vitamin or nutritional supplement, it is not a nutrient and is usually manufactured through a synthetic chemical process.  DHEA should only be administered by a doctor that understands hormones and  hormone balancing.
