I just signed this petition — will you?

The United States Supreme Court just dealt yet another staggering blow to our democracy by giving the green light for the wealthiest Americans to pour vast sums of money into electing their hand-picked candidates.

supreme_corporate_justice_180If the Supreme Court is going to consistently side with corporations and the wealthy at the expense of our democracy, they might as well give up their pretense to impartiality. So CREDO is going to send robes with the logos of the big corporations to the “justices” who voted for Citizens United and this new terrible decision.

If you want to add your name to the card they’ll deliver along with the robes, click here to sign the petition.

Pass it along so that you too can be A VOICE FOR CHANGE. To learn more about other health topics and other preventable/curable diseases, visit our website or contact Coach D directly at support@avoiceforchange.com.

stop_mpa_againHello all my great health seekers out there. Here is the latest word on what’s happening in Monsanto Land. Please help me be A Voice For Change and take action. Our world food supply needs your help. Our children and grand children and future generations need your help to assure that our food is pure and healthy and stays that way. We have already lost a lot in terms of pureness and nutrition. Help me make sure we begin to turn around the damage that has been done and bring food back to the natural state it was meant to be grown in and grown into. The latest call to action and update follows:

Thank you Coach D, Donna Appel, A Voice For Change, support@avoiceforchange.com

The Monsanto Protection Act is back and we need you now more than ever!

Last week the U.S. House of Representatives decided to introduce the same language for the Continuing Resolution spending bill (H.J.RES.59) that contained the Monsanto Protection Act that Congress passed last spring.

This past March, Monsanto succeeded in sneaking the controversial rider into a

Knowledge is Power Series – 71 Senators voted against your right to know if the food you are purchasing is genetically modified.

71 Senators voted against your right to know if the food you are purchasing is genetically modified.

If you believe you have the right to know whether or not the food you are purchasing is genetically modified, then you need to get these Senators out of office. They have voted against our right to know. The Organic Consumers Association has reported that 90% of consumers want to know if the food they are purchasing is genetically modified. So this means that 71 Senators voted against 90% of the people that voted them into office. I thought we voted them into office to protect us and act on our behalf? What gives? What happened to our Tenth Amendment right, the right of individual states to protect the health, safety and welfare of its citizens and local businesses? The bill they voted against was the 2013 Farm Bill that would have guaranteed states the right to enact mandatory GMO labeling laws. Specifically it is known as The Sanders Amendment (S.AMDT.965).

Why would these Senators do this? All we want is “to know” what kind of food we are eating. It is like labeling organic vs non-organic. We have the right to know how our food is being produced. It is that simple. Could it be that Monsanto donated almost $6 million dollars to the agriculture lobby? Could it be that almost $1 million dollars of that money went to political candidates that include some of these 71 Senators listed below? Hummm here we go again, the fox is guarding the hen house; the wolves are wearing sheep’s clothing!
Let’s step up to the plate people. We 90% have a right to know. The Sanders amendment is simple. We aren’t asking for much. Let’s not forget that Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), the chair of the Agriculture Committee, received $739,926 in campaign contributions from Big Agriculture in 2012. Let’s also remember that Bill Gates who is an advocate of GMO foods, is also a Monsanto shareholder. As stated in the recent Organic Consumer Association article, “there is plenty of evidence refuting the claim that GMO crops can solve world hunger, improve nutrition or survive drought. The focus on efficiency over health and safety, when we’re talking about our food, should be enough to set off alarm bells. Claiming efficiency, whether it’s a valid claim or not, as a reason to trample states’ rights to make their own decisions regarding food and agriculture, should have us thinking “slippery slope.”. We just want to know. We have that right and should not be snowed over by self-serving politicians and greedy, power hungry corporations.
These are the 71 Senators in alphabetical order, that voted against GMO labeling.

Alexander (R-TN), Ayotte (R-NH), Baldwin (D-WI), Barrasso (R-WY), Baucus (D-MT), Blunt (R-MO), Boozman (R-AR), Brown (D-OH), Burr (R-NC), Carper (D-DE), Casey (D-PA), Chambliss (R-GA), Coats (R-IN), Coburn (R-OK), Cochran (R-MS), Collins (R-ME), Coons (D-DE), Corker (R-TN), Cornyn (R-TX), Cowan (D-MA), Crapo (R-ID), Cruz (R-TX), Donnelly (D-IN), Durbin (D-IL), Enzi (R-WY), Fischer (R-NE), Franken (D-MN), Gillibrand (D-NY), Graham (R-SC), Grassley (R-IA), Hagan (D-NC), Harkin (D-IA), Hatch (R-UT), Heitkamp (D-ND), Heller (R-NV), Hoeven (R-ND), Inhofe (R-OK), Isakson (R-GA), Johanns (R-NE), Johnson (D-SD), Johnson (R-WI), Kaine (D-VA), Kirk (R-IL), Klobuchar (D-MN), Landrieu (D-LA), Lee (R-UT), Levin (D-MI), McCain (R-AZ), McCaskill (D-MO), McConnell (R-KY), Menendez (D-NJ), Moran (R-KS), Nelson (D-FL), Paul (R-KY), Portman (R-OH), Pryor (D-AR), Risch (R-ID), Roberts (R-KS), Rubio (R-FL), Scott (R-SC), Sessions (R-AL), Shaheen (D-NH), Shelby (R-AL), Stabenow (D-MI), Thune (R-SD), Toomey (R-PA), Udall (D-CO), Vitter (R-LA), Warner (D-VA), Warren (D-MA), Wicker (R-MS)

Momentum is Building Against Corporate Terrorism

Posted in Political America on 06.03.13

ag-gag-lawAs I continue to do the legwork to educate my detox / weight loss community, my research keeps coming back to the control trying to be exercised by Corporate America. I have a hard time believing what is going on in our great country but now I find that I am having a hard time believing that no one is doing anything about it. I’m having a hard time understanding how things have gotten so out of control and in the position that they are in today.

Literally, right now as I write this blog message, I am finding out that corporate agribusiness, these are the big food suppliers, are at it again. I remember helping out the cause when I found out that Florida was one of the states that “they” were trying to pass a law in, that would make it an “act of terrorism” for anyone to investigate animal cruelty, food safety or environmental violations against

GMO – The Deceit Continues

secret…there was so much information out there about genetically modified foods that just isn’t hitting mainstream media, at least I don’t think it is hitting the media. I’m not hearing anything. Granted I don’t really turn on the television these days. I don’t read newspapers either. There is just too much negativity for me in the media. Besides, I would rather focus on finding the positives and moving forward toward reversing the challenges rather than dwell on what is wrong. Heck, we all know what’s wrong or do we? What we need is to know what’s right and then we need to move in that direction.

This is why I do what I do. I educate those that are sick and tired of being sick and tired. I focus on happiness, great health and wellness and help move people away from the status quo which just doesn’t work. I will now jump to the chase and give you

When Food Manufactures Won’t Label GMO, Consumers Won’t Buy!

Posted in GMOs on 01.02.13

Muir GlenDid you know that the popular Muir Glen Organic Label is owned by General Mills? Well now you know. And did you know that General Mills is lobbying against putting GMO status on its labels? And did you know that they lobbied to the tune of donating $1.2 million to stop the GMO labeling campaign in California in 2012? They do not want to have to tell you if the ingredients in their brands of food have GMO’s in them. I guess it is like opening up a can of worms. Profit wise it would send them on their butts at least for a while. Can you imagine Cheerios not having any GMO’s in them? Ah, you didn’t know that did you? And children are probably the biggest consumers of Cheerios, especially babies right? I remember it was

Food Fight Anyone?

Posted in GMOs, Political America on 22.01.13

I Didn’t Know That (IDKT) …

food fight…Here is another update on the quest to get GMO foods labeled. Big Food and Biotech corporations can fight against labeling all they want but consumers can and will continue to propose state laws and state ballot initiatives as often as is needed until we win. If 61 other countries in the world have mandatory GMO labeling laws, then I see no reason why we cannot have the same here in the good old US of A.

I’ve been told that activists in the state of Washington are delivering approximately 350,000 signatures to the state legislature to guarantee that a mandatory GMO labeling Initiative, I-522, will be on the ballot in November. Vermont legislatures will reintroduce a GMO labeling bill early this year. Connecticut plans to introduce one in May.

Come on guys, why is this an issue? If GMO’s are so good for us, why not let us know by telling us that we are eating them? Inquiring minds want to know.

Buyer Beware: Premade Soups

Posted in GMOs on 04.01.13

Buyer Beware when it comes to processed soups that you buy off the shelf. Many of these soups are packed with sodium and fat. Some soups can have as much as 30 grams or more of fat per serving. They also get a lot of their taste from excess salt which is just not necessary if you are using good ingredients from the start.

Beyond the fat and sodium, consider

The Vaccine Injury Act … Are You Kidding Me?

IDKT (I Didn’t Know That)…

…even with the knowledge we have today about the dangers of mercury and aluminum, that many continue to put these highly toxic substances into their bodies. Why is that? I’m thinking this is the truest definition of an oxymoron, don’t you think? An oxymoron is contradictory, no? OK maybe I’m stretching it thinking that this is a good example of an oxymoron but really, this is “pretty ugly”. There is a “definite possibility” that we are positioning ourselves for long-term “ill health” when it comes to the “clearly misunderstood” reasoning behind why this continues to be. Why would anyone want to put mercury and/or aluminum

If GMO foods are so “good”, why not tell everyone?

Posted in Environmental on 13.11.12

I Didn’t Know That (IDKT) …

… a corporate giant like Monsanto, dumped more than eight million dollars into the “Vote No,” campaign that was waged against California’s Proposition 37 initiative. In case you didn’t know, Proposition 37, was a state-wide initiative aimed to increase consumer awareness about the food industry’s growing use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs). In case you didn’t know, Proposition 37 was defeated by a margin of 53 to 47 percent during the recent presidential election.

Here is what is puzzling to me. Why would companies the likes of Monsanto, Pepsico, Dow, Bayer, Dupont and Syngenta, who were the biggest funders of the opposition, not want their products labeled that they were GMO’d or contained some component of a GMO’d substance? If they believe in their products, why all the opposition to let us know how our food was produced in the first place? Common sense tells me to be careful. Something isn’t right here. I start to question people when they want to hide things from me. I’m into truth telling and all I want to know is that my food isn’t coming from a natural source. Someone is playing with mother nature. While this may be OK in the long run, all I am asking for is proper testing and truth telling and from my research in other sectors of corporate America, the last thing they tend to do is tell the truth.

All Prop 37 was asking for was that labels be put on food indicating they were “partially produced with genetic engineering” or “may be partially produced with genetic engineering” by 2014 and that the words “genetically engineered” would be required to appear on packaging. I believe consumers have a right to know that their food isn’t coming from the same source that it has always come from. I believe consumers have a right to choose what kind of food they eat. I believe consumers have a right to know everything and anything they can about the creation of whatever it is that they put into their bodies.

So for those of us that care about the source of our food, to this I say, we have not been defeated by the corporate profit mongers who don’t care about us or what our desires are. We still have a choice. There are many companies out there that do care and instead of waiting for the corporate giants to be forced into labeling their products, these companies took it upon themselves to produce their own label that simply states “NON GMO Project VERIFIED nongmoproject.org”. Look for this label when you shop. Visit www.nongmoproject.org for more information. Start supporting the companies that have taken it upon themselves to keep us informed and provide a solution to a problem that shouldn’t be a problem in the first place if people only told the truth.
