Detoxing Mercury

Posted by Donna Appel on March 27, 2012 in Mercury, Vitamins with No Comments

A Voice for Change - Vitamin CI Didn’t Know That (IDKT) … 3,000 to 5,000 mg of Vitamin C along with 300mg of Alpha Lipoic acid two times a day can help detox mercury out of the human body. If you eat white tuna or swordfish or other fishes that are higher than others when it comes to mercury content, you might do well to detox with these two supplements for a few days immediately after. Better yet, avoid mercury and mercury containing foods as much as possible and make detoxing something that you do as a good health regime once or twice a year.

Is it Vitamin D, Hormone D or Sunshine D?

Posted by Donna Appel on September 14, 2011 in Vitamin A, C, D, E with 1 Comment

I keep reading more and more about the importance of Vitamin D and how deficient we are as Americans. I’m seeing staggering statistics like 3 out of 4 Americans are deficient in Vitamin D and I’m chilled to the bone because I know that a D deficiency can lead to diseases and/or can make existing conditions that Americans are faced with today, worse. That’s right, if you are facing challenges with regard to heart disease, cancer, infections of most any type, diabetes, arthritis, fibromyalgia, MS, obesity, psoriasis, osteoporosis, etc, your challenges are increased if you are deficient in D.

Vitamin D deficiency is so bad that it is estimated that it is affecting more than a billion people. What most don’t know is that Vitamin D isn’t really a vitamin. Nope, its classification should be that of a hormone. That’s right. Hormones are produced by specific organs in the body and vitamin D is produced by Read the rest of this entry »

D3 – Vitamin or Hormone?

Posted by Donna Appel on August 14, 2011 in Vitamin A, C, D, E with 1 Comment

Q – Is vitamin D3 a vitamin or a hormone?

A – Vitamin D3 is actually a hormone manufactured by our skin through sun exposure. Just spend a half hour a day in the sun and your body will manufacture in excess of 10,000 iu’s of D3 all by itself. I personally make sure I get 5,000 iu’s of D3 a day. I also make sure I get some sunshine every day. It is good for you and doesn’t cost anything. And I skip the sunscreen. Besides being toxic to the body, it hinders the body’s ability to produce D3.

Iodine – the most misunderstood nutrient

I didn’t know that (IDKT) …. there was any therapeutic value of supplementing with iodine until I read in Suzy Cohen’s book “The 24 Hour Pharmacist” that the cause of her “dry eye” was the result of an iodine deficiency. I ran to my local health food store and purchased some kelp and started adding 10 drops to my water a couple times a day. I was amazed that within a couple of days, I was no longer waking up in the middle of the night to put drops in my dry eyes. In fact, I don’t use eye drops at all anymore.

And add to that, I no longer supplement with a pharmaceutical drug for my underactive thyroid condition. My thyroid is now functioning just fine.
